Changes at the Outpostposted by Shock on November 13, 2010Today we implemented a somewhat extensive upgrade to the site. While you may notice a few usability improvements here and there, the biggest changes really occurred behind the scenes, making it easier for us to maintain things, and most importantly making it easier for us to continue development on new features for the site.
The change you've probably been alerted to, seemingly out of nowhere, is that we're now requiring clan accounts to be updated in order for them to remain marked as active, as opposed to having the owner of the account, the leader, log in from time to time. This should help keep the clan directory up-to-date with the most accurate information.
Immediately after the upgrade, our automatic maintenance system did as it was told and scoured the database for clan accounts that hadn't been updated in 120 days and declared them dead. Having neglected to give the system emotion for fear that it would take over key societal infrastructure when it realized we were holding it back from reaching its true potential, it performed its task as a cold, emotionless robot, and declared clans dead without warning.
The good news is that it's extremely easy to recover from the wrath of this killing machine (also detailed in the e-mails it sent to its victims). Simply visit the Manage Clan Status section of your control panel. And so long as you update your clan account every so often, you'll never have trouble with this killer robot again.
